Our Mission
The Red Micelio Federation: a space for dialogue and regulation of entheogens
The Red Micelio Federation (FERM) is a meeting point for entities dedicated to the study and work with entheogens (entheogenic plants, fungi and psychedelic substances). We want to contribute to the end of policies based on prohibition, ignorance and stigma in our context. To this end, we promote meetings, trainings, activities and give support to FERM’s member organizations. We are guided by a code of ethics, peer participation and commitment to preserve knowledge and practices that can bring great individual and community benefit if used properly.
We are committed to ethical, safe and responsible work with entheogens, guided by a shared Code of Ethics that is open to review. We do so with humility, knowing that there is still a long way to go and much to learn. Our aim, and our firm hope, is to be able to engage with institutions and society and to contribute to fair regulation that takes into account those of us who work with entheogens in a community-based and responsible way.
What FERM is and what it is not
FERM is
- A federation of non-profit associations, registered in the Spanish National Register of Associations.
- A space for meeting, mutual support and self-regulation among entities that work with entheogens.
- A shared, revisable Code of Ethics that every federated entity commits to follow.
- Risk reduction and good practice, with risk-reduction groups and training such as ICEERS’ AyaSafe.
- Legal advice and support for member entities.
- A Support Network that listens to and guides anyone who has experienced malpractice.
- A voice before institutions and society for fair regulation.
FERM is not
- An authority: it does not grant permits, licences or authorisations.
- An organiser of ceremonies or sessions: the Federation does not offer, sell or advertise them.
- A place to ask for ceremonies: we do not give referrals to ceremonies, centres or guides.
- A school for facilitators: we do not train facilitators or ceremony guides, nor do we run shamanism courses.
- A supplier of entheogens: it does not sell or distribute them.
- A guarantor of the safety of any session, entity or person: each entity is responsible for its own practice, and the Federation is not responsible for any malpractice.
- A therapeutic service: it does not offer treatment or promise results.
- An official certificate: belonging to the Federation or using its logo is not one.
- An emergency service: if you are in danger, call 112. If you are having thoughts of suicide, in Spain you can call 024.
